Tafseer Furat Bin Ibrahim – Ja’far Bin Ahmad Bin Yusuf, transmitting from Al-Hassan who said, ‘I heard Abdullah in Abbas saying, ‘Regarding Words of the Exalted: When you were ascending (the mount Ohad) and were not even glancing at anyone, and the Rasool kept calling you [3: 153], ‘The people fled away from Rasool-Allah-saww on the day of Ohad and there did not remain anyone with him-saww apart from Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws and a man from the Helpers. The Prophet-saww said: ‘O Ali-asws! The people have done what you-asws see’. He-asws said: ‘No, by Allah-azwj, O Rasool-Allah-saww! I-asws will not be asking about your-saww news from behind’. The Prophet-saww said to him-asws: ‘But no! Attack upon this battalion’. He-asws attacked upon it and dispersed them. Jibraeel-as said to Rasool-Allah-saww: ‘This, it is the consolation’. The Prophet-saww said: ‘I-saww am from him-asws and he-asws is from me-saww’. Jibraeel-as said: ‘And I-as am from you-asws both’’. [160]
He came back and said, ‘It is narrated to me by Abdullah Bin Abbas, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww called Ali-asws and said: ‘O Ali-asws! Guard the door unto me-saww, so not one should enter today, for Angels from the Angels of Allah-azwj has sought Permission of their Lord-azwj to hold discussions with me-saww today up to the night. So, be seated (at the door)’. So, Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws sat at the door. Umar Bin Al-Khattab came, but he-asws returned him. Then he came at midday, but he-asws returned him. Then he came in the afternoon, but he-asws returned him and informed him that three hundred and sixty Angels has sought permission to see the Prophet-saww. When it was morning, Umar came to Rasool-Allah-saww and informed him-saww with what Ali-asws Bin Abu Talib-asws had said. Rasool-Allah-saww called Ali-asws and said: ‘And what made you-asws know that three hundred and sixty Angels had sought permission to see me-saww? ’
He-asws said: ‘By the One-azwj Who Sent you-saww with the truth! There was no Angel from them who had sought permission to see you-asws, except and I-asws heard his voice by my-asws ears, and I-asws counted with my-asws hand, until I-asws had counted three hundred and sixty’. He-saww said: ‘You-asws speak the truth, may Allah-azwj have Mercy on you-asws! ’ – to the extent that Rasool-Allah-saww repeated it thrice’’. [161]
