يج، الخرائج و الجرائح قَالَ زُرَارَةُ كُنْتُ أَنَا وَ عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ وَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ لُقْمَانَ وَ عُمَرُ بْنُ شَجَرَةَ الْكِنْدِيُّ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقَامَ عُمَرُ فَخَرَجَ فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهِ خَيْراً وَ ذَكَرُوا وَرَعَهُ وَ بَذْلَ مَالِهِ
فَقَالَ مَا أَرَى بِكُمْ عِلْماً بِالنَّاسِ إِنِّي لَأَكْتَفِي مِنَ الرَّجُلِ بِلَحْظَةٍ إِنَّ هَذَا مِنْ أَخْبَثِ النَّاسِ
قَالَ فَكَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ شَجَرَةَ مِنْ أَحْرَصِ النَّاسِ عَلَى ارْتِكَابِ مَحَارِمِ اللَّهِ.
(The book) ‘Al Kharaij Wa Al Jaraih’ – Zurara said, ‘I and Abdul Wahid Bin Al-Mukhtar, and Saeed Bin Luqman, and Umar Bin Shajara Al-Kindy were in the presence of Abu Abdullah-asws. Umar stood up and went out. The praised goodly upon him, and they mentioned his devoutness and the spending of his wealth. He-asws said: ‘I-asws do not see knowledge of the people being with you. I-asws tend to suffice from the man with a moment. This one is from the wickedest of the people’. He (the narrator) said, ‘Umar Bin Shajarah was from the most eager of people upon indulging the Prohibitions of Allah-azwj’’. [159]
