قل، إقبال الأعمال أَدْعِيَةُ السَّحَرِ فِي لَيَالِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا رَوَيْنَاهُ بِإِسْنَادِنَا إِلَى أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُوسَى التَّلَّعُكْبَرِيِّ بِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمَا يُصَلِّي عَامَّةَ لَيْلَتِهِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَإِذَا كَانَ السَّحَرُ دَعَا بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ-
إِلَهِي لَا تُؤَدِّبْنِي بِعُقُوبَتِكَ وَ لَا تَمْكُرْ بِي فِي حِيلَتِكَ مِنْ أَيْنَ لِيَ الْخَيْرُ يَا رَبِّ وَ لَا يُوجَدُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَ مِنْ أَيْنَ لِيَ النَّجَاةُ وَ لَا تُسْتَطَاعُ إِلَّا بِكَ- لَا الَّذِي أَحْسَنَ اسْتَغْنَى عَنْ عَوْنِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ لَا الَّذِي أَسَاءَ وَ اجْتَرَأَ عَلَيْكَ وَ لَمْ يُرْضِكَ خَرَجَ عَنْ قُدْرَتِكَ يَا رَبِّ حَتَّى يَنْقَطِعَ النَّفَسُ بِكَ
عَرَفْتُكَ وَ أَنْتَ دَلَلْتَنِي عَلَيْكَ وَ دَعَوْتَنِي إِلَيْكَ وَ لَوْ لَا أَنْتَ لَمْ أَدْرِ مَا أَنْتَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَدْعُوهُ فَيُجِيبُنِي وَ إِنْ كُنْتُ بَطِيئاً حِينَ يَدْعُونِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَسْأَلُهُ فَيُعْطِينِي وَ إِنْ كُنْتُ بَخِيلًا حِينَ يَسْتَقْرِضُنِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أُنَادِيهِ كُلَّمَا شِئْتُ لِحَاجَتِي وَ أَخْلُو بِهِ حَيْثُ شِئْتُ لِسِرِّي بِغَيْرِ شَفِيعٍ فَيَقْضِي لِي حَاجَتِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَا أَدْعُو غَيْرَهُ وَ لَوْ دَعَوْتُ غَيْرَهُ لَمْ يَسْتَجِبْ لِي دُعَائِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَا أَرْجُو غَيْرَهُ وَ لَوْ رَجَوْتُ غَيْرَهُ لَأَخْلَفَ رَجَائِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَكَلَنِي إِلَيْهِ فَأَكْرَمَنِي وَ لَمْ يَكِلْنِي إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيُهِينُونِي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي تَحَبَّبَ إِلَيَّ وَ هُوَ غَنِيٌّ عَنِّي
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يَحْلُمُ عَنِّي حَتَّى كَأَنِّي لَا ذَنْبَ لِي فَرَبِّي أَحْمَدُ شَيْءٍ عِنْدِي وَ أَحَقُّ بِحَمْدِي
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَجِدُ سُبُلَ الْمَطَالِبِ إِلَيْكَ مُشْرَعَةً وَ مَنَاهِلَ الرَّجَاءِ إِلَيْكَ مُتْرَعَةً وَ الِاسْتِعَانَةَ بِفَضْلِكَ لِمَنْ أَمَّلَكَ مُبَاحَةً وَ أَبْوَابَ الدُّعَاءِ إِلَيْكَ لِلصَّارِخِينَ مَفْتُوحَةً وَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ لِلرَّاجِينَ بِمَوْضِعِ إِجَابَةٍ وَ لِلْمَلْهُوفِينَ بِمَرْصَدِ إِغَاثَةٍ
وَ أَنَّ فِي اللَّهْفِ إِلَى جُودِكَ وَ الرِّضَا بِقَضَائِكَ عِوَضاً عَنْ مَنْعِ الْبَاخِلِينَ وَ مَنْدُوحَةً عَمَّا فِي أَيْدِي الْمُسْتَأْثِرِينَ وَ أَنَّ الرَّاحِلَ إِلَيْكَ قَرِيبُ الْمَسَافَةِ وَ أَنَّكَ لَا تَحْجُبُ عَنْ خَلْقِكَ وَ لَكِنْ تَحْجُبُهُمُ الْأَعْمَالُ السَّيِّئَةُ دُونَكَ وَ قَدْ قَصَدْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِطَلِبَتِي
وَ تَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِحَاجَتِي وَ جَعَلْتُ بِكَ اسْتِغَاثَتِي وَ بِدُعَائِكَ تَوَسُّلِي مِنْ غَيْرِ اسْتِحْقَاقٍ لِا
(The book) ‘Iqbal Al Amaal’ – The pre-dawn supplication during nights of a month of Ramazan. From that is what we are reporting with our chains to Abu Muhammad Haroun Bin Musa Al Tal’akbury, by his chain from Al Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Abu Hamza Al Sumali who said, ‘Ali-asws Bin Al-Husayn-asws, may the Salawaat of Allah-azwj be upon them-asws was such that he‑asws pray Salat most of his-asws night during a month of Ramazan. When it was pre-dawn, he-asws would supplicate with this supplication: –
‘My God-azwj! Do not discipline me with Your-azwj Punishment, and do not Plan against me with Your-azwj plan. How could I have any good, O Lord-azwj, when it cannot come except from You‑azwj? And how could I be saved when it cannot be achieved except through You-azwj? Neither the one who does good can be independent of Your-azwj Help and Mercy, nor can the one who has done wrong, dared to displease You-azwj, and acted contrary to Your-azwj Desire escape Your-azwj Power, O Lord-azwj! ’ – until the breath is cut from you. ‘I have recognised You-azwj are You-azwj are my Pointer to You-azwj and Called me to You-azwj, and had it not been for You-azwj I would not have known what You-azwj are! The Praise is for Allah‑azwj Whom I supplicate to so He-azwj Responds to me, and even though I had delayed when He-azwj Called me! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Whom I ask Him-azwj so He-azwj Gives me, and even though I was miserly when He-azwj Asked me for a loan! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Whom I call out to every time I desire for my needs, and I seclude with Him-azwj wherever I desire for my secrets without an intercessor, so He-azwj Fulfil my needs for me! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Who I do not call anyone else, and had I called upon someone else he would not have answered my supplication for me! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Who I do not hope for anyone else, and had I hoped to someone else he would have broken my hopes! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Who Allocated me to Him-azwj so He-azwj Honoured me and did not Allocate me to the people so they would demean me! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Who Made Himself-azwj beloved to me and He-azwj is needless of me! And the Praise is for Allah-azwj Who is so Lenient with me until it is as if there is no sin for me, so my Lord-azwj is most praised in my presence and most deserving of my praise! O Allah-azwj! I find the paths to approach You-azwj (always) open, the springs of hope toward You-azwj are filled, and seeking help from Your-azwj Grace for anyone who seeks You-azwj Permitted. The doors of calling upon You-azwj are open to those who cry out, and I know that You-azwj are ready to Respond to those who hope in You-azwj and to aid those in distress. In turning to Your-azwj Generosity and being content with Your-azwj Decree, there is comfort for those denied by the stingy and a release from the control of the possessiveness. And that the one who travels to You-azwj comes closer in distance, and that You-azwj do not Hide from Your-azwj creation, but rather evil deeds hide them from You-azwj, and I have come to You-azwj with my request. And I have diverted to You-azwj with my request, directed my needs to You-azwj, placed my plea in Your-azwj Hands, and rely on my appeal through Your-azwj Call, not out of any worthiness for You
