Hadith 299

(The book) ‘Basharat Al Mustafa-saww – Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Shahriyar, from Abdul Rahman Bin Yaqoub, from his father, from Ahmad Bin Is’haq the judge, from Ahmad Bin Abdullah Bin Sabour, from Ubeyd Bin Hisham, from Ismail Bin Ja’far, from Al A’la Bin Abdul Rahman, from his father, from Abdullah Bin Masoud who said, ‘Rasool-Allah-saww said: ‘O Ali-asws! If a servant were to worship Allah-azwj for the likes of what Noahas stayed among hisas people (950 years), and had gold the like of (Mount) Ohad and he spends it in the Way of Allah-azwj, and had an extension in his life-span until he performs a thousand Hajj, then is killed between Al-Safa and Al-Marwa, then does not accept you-asws as a Master, O Ali-asws, he will not (even) smell the aroma of the Paradise and will not enter it. But, do you not know, O Ali-asws, that your-asws love is such a good deed that an evil deed does not harm along with it, and your-asws hatred is such an evil deed that an (act of) obedience does not benefit along with it? O Ali-asws! If the gems were to be scattered upon the hypocrite, he would (still) not love you-asws, and if the nose of a Momin is truck, he would (still) not hate you-asws, because your-asws love is Eman and your-asws hatred is hypocrisy. None will love you-asws except for a pious Momin, nor would anyone hate you-asws except for a wretched hypocrite’’. [142]
