Hadith 6

(The book) ‘Uyoon Akhbar Al-Reza-asws’ – Al Bayhaqi, from Al Sawly, from Awn Bin Muhammad Al Kindy who said, ‘I heard Abu Al-Hassan Ali Bin Meesam saying, ‘I have not seen anyone more knowing with the matter of the Imamate, and their-asws news, and their-asws marriages, than him. He said, ‘Hameeda Al-Musaffat-as, and she-as is mother-as of Abu Al-Hassan Musa-asws Bin Ja’far-asws, and she-as was from the non-Arab nobles, bought a generative slave girl, and her name is Tuktam, and she was from the superior women regarding her intellect, and her religion and her reverence to her mistress Hameeda Al-Musaffat was to the extent that she would not sit in front of her-as, since she-as had owned her, in reverence to her-as. She (Hameeda-as) said to her-as son-asws Musa-asws: ‘O my-as son-asws! Tuktam is such a slave girl, I-as have not seen any slave girl at all superior to her, and I-as have no doubt that Allah-azwj the Exalted would be Purifying her-as offspring, if there was to be any offspring for her, and I-as am gifting her to you-asws, so deal with her goodly’. When she (Tuktam-as) was blessed with Al-Reza-asws, he-asws named her as ‘Tahira’. He (the narrator) said, ‘Al-Reza-asws used to feed a lot from his-asws mother, and he-asws was of perfect creation. She-as said, ‘Assist me-as with feeding from her! ’ It was said to her, ‘Are you-as deficient of the milk flow? ’ She-as said: ‘I will not lie! By Allah-azwj, I-asws am not deficient, but upon me-as is to reach (lapsed) from my-as Salat and my-as glorifications, and I-saww have been deficient since I-as was blessed’. Al-Hakim Abu Ali said, ‘Al Sawly said, ‘And the evidence upon that her-as name is Tuktam is the word of the poet praising Al-Reza-asws, ‘Indeed! The best of people, himself and father, and family, and ancestors is the revered Ali-asws (Al-Reza-asws). We are given by him-asws, the knowledge and the wisdom, being the eighth Imam-asws, a Divine Authority of Allah-azwj, entrustment of Tuktam’. And a people have attributed this poem to an uncle of Abu Ibrahim Bin Al-Abbas, and I do not see it being for him, and no report has occurred for me and a listening, for I cannot ratify it, nor can I invalidate it. Al-Sawly said, ‘I found these couplets in the handwriting of my father upon the back of a register of his. He is saying in it, ‘It was prosed for me by my brother to his uncle regarding Ali-asws, meaning Al-Reza-asws, an anticipated comment. I looked, and there it was with his division in the sitting of Al-Mamoun, because Abdul Muttalib-as is the eighth of all their-asws forefathers-asws. And ‘Tuktam’ is from the names of Arab women. It has come a lot in the poems. Al-Sawly said, ‘And for Ibrahim Bin Al-Abbas Al-Sawly, an uncle of my father, there are a lot of praises regarding Al-Reza-asws he had revealed. Then he became desperate to conceal them, and I pursued these and took them from every place. And a group has revealed that the mother-as of Al-Reza-asws was named as ‘Sakn Al-Nubiya’, and she-as is named as ‘Najma’, and named as ‘Siman’, and is teknonymed as ‘Umm Al-Baneen’’. [8]
