Bihar al-Anwar · Allamah al-Majlisi
(The book) ‘Al Manaqib’ of Ibn Shehr Ashub – Al Ghifary said, ‘There was a right for a man from the family of Abu Rafie, slave of Rasool-Allah-saww, against me. I went to Al-Reza-asws and said, ‘O son-asws of Rasool-Allah-saww! There is a right for so and so friend of yours-asws, against me, and he has publicised me’. He-asws instructed me with sitting upon the pillow. When we had eaten and were free, he-asws said: ‘Raise the pillow and take whatever is under it’. I raised it, and there were Dinars. I took them. When I came to the house, I looked into the Dinars, and there, they were eighty-four Dinars, and among these was a Dinar standing out. There was engraved upon it: ‘Right of the man upon you is twenty-eight Dinars, and whatever remains, so it is for you’. And no, by Allah-azwj, I had not let anyone known what was for him against me, upon the threat. A man from the sons of the Helpers came with a silver container with a lock upon it, and said, ‘No one will gift you with the like of it’. He opened it and extracted seven hairs from it and said, ‘These are the hairs of the Prophet-saww’. Al-Reza-asws distinguished four hairs from these and said: ‘These are his-saww hairs! ’ He-asws accepted from its apparent besides its esoteric. Then Al-Reza-asws took him out from the suspicion by placing the (other) three upon the fire. They were burnt. Then he-asws placed the four, and these became like the gold. And when Al-Reza-asws descended in Neshapour in a carriage, delegated the matter of building a bathhouse, and digging a canal, and constructing a fountain having a praying place above it. He-asws washed from the fountain and prayed Salat in the Masjid. So that became a Sunnah. It is called, ‘Gharmabe Reza’, and ‘Aab Reza’, and Howz Kahlan’, and meaning of that is a man placed a money-belt upon its vault and washed from it, and aimed for Makah, forgetting. When he left from Hajj, he came to the fountain for the washing. He saw it fastened. He asked the people about that, they said, ‘A serpent has sheltered in it and stands upon its vault’. The man opened it and entered into the fountain and took out his money-belt, and he said, ‘This is from the miracles of the Imam-asws’. They looked at each other and said, ‘Yes, O elderly (Kahlan), it has not been taken’. So it was named as ‘Howz Kahlan’ due to that. And the neighbourhood is named as ‘Fawz’ because it was opened first, so they wrote it and said, ‘Fawz! ’’[156]
From Al-Husayn Bin Mansour, from his brother who said, ‘I entered to see Al-Reza-asws in an inside room in the interior of a room at night. He-asws raised his-asws hand it happened as it there were ten lamps in the room. A man sought permission to see him-asws. He-asws released his-asws hand, then permitted for him’’. [157]
