وَ رُوِيَ أَنَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ كَانَتْ أَغْنَامُهُ تَرْعَى بِشَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ الرَّاعِي أَنَّهَا لَا تَشْرَبُ الْمَاءَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَشْرَعَةِ مُنْذُ كَذَا يَوْماً فَسَأَلَ رَبَّهُ عَنْ سَبَبِ ذَلِكَ فَنَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ وَ قَالَ يَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ سَلْ غَنَمَكَ فَإِنَّهَا تُجِيبُكَ عَنْ سَبَبِ ذَلِكَ
فَقَالَ لَهَا لِمَ لَا تَشْرَبِينَ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَاءِ فَقَالَتْ بِلِسَانٍ فَصِيحٍ قَدْ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ وَلَدَكَ الْحُسَيْنَ ع سِبْطَ مُحَمَّدٍ يُقْتَلُ هُنَا عَطْشَاناً فَنَحْنُ لَا نَشْرَبُ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَشْرَعَةِ حَزَناً عَلَيْهِ
فَسَأَلَهَا عَنْ قَاتِلِهِ- فَقَالَتْ يَقْتُلُهُ لَعِينُ أَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرَضِينَ وَ الْخَلَائِقِ أَجْمَعِينَ فَقَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ قَاتِلَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع.
And it is reported –
‘Ismail-as, his-as sheep were being pastured at the banks of the Euphrates. The shepherd informed him-as that they are not drinking the water from this drinking place since such and such day. He-as asked him-as Lord-azwj about the cause of that. So Jibraeel-as descended and said: ‘O Ismail-as! Ask your-as sheep, for they will answer you about the cause of that! ’
He-as said to them: ‘Why are you not drinking from this water? ’ They said with eloquent tongue, ‘It has reached us that your-as son-asws Al-Husayn-asws, grandson-asws of Muhammad-saww would be killed thirsty over here, so we did not drink from this drinking place as grief upon him-asws’. He-as asked them about his-asws killer. They said, ‘He-asws will be killed by the one accursed by the people of the skies and the earths and the creatures in their entirety’. Ismail said: ‘O Allah-azwj! Curse the killer of Al-Husayn-asws! ’’[239]
