كشف، كشف الغمة لَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ وَ تَقَارَبَا وَ رَأَى عَلِيٌّ تَصْمِيمَ عَزْمِهِمْ عَلَى قِتَالِهِ فَجَمَعَ أَصْحَابَهُ وَ خَطَبَهُمْ خُطْبَةً بَلِيغَةً قَالَ فِيهَا وَ اعْلَمُوا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَنِّي قَدْ تَأَنَّيْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمَ وَ رَاقَبْتُهُمْ وَ نَاشَدْتُهُمْ كَيْمَا يَرْجِعُوا وَ يَرْتَدِعُوا فَلَمْ يَفْعَلُوا وَ لَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا
وَ قَدْ بَعَثُوا إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَبْرُزَ إِلَى الطِّعَانِ وَ أَثْبُتَ لِلْجِلَادِ وَ قَدْ كُنْتُ وَ مَا أُهَدَّدُ بِالْحَرْبِ وَ لَا أُدْعَى إِلَيْهَا وَ قَدْ أَنْصَفَ الْقَارَةَ مَنْ رَامَاهَا مِنْهَا فَأَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الَّذِي فَلَلْتُ حَدَّهُمْ وَ فَرَّقْتُ جَمَاعَتَهُمْ فَبِذَلِكَ الْقَلْبِ أَلْقَى عَدُوِّي
وَ أَنَا عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي لِمَا وَعَدَنِي مِنَ النَّصْرِ وَ الظَّفَرِ وَ إِنِّي لَعَلَى غَيْرِ شُبْهَةٍ مِنْ أَمْرِي أَلَا وَ إِنَّ الْمَوْتَ لَا يَفُوتُهُ الْمُقِيمُ وَ لَا يُعْجِزُهُ الْهَارِبُ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يُقْتَلْ يَمُتْ فَإِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْمَوْتِ الْقَتْلُ وَ الَّذِي نَفْسُ عَلِيٍّ بِيَدِهِ لَأَلْفُ ضَرْبَةٍ بِالسَّيْفِ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيَّ مِنْ مِيتَةٍ عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ
ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ طَلْحَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ أَعْطَانِي صَفْقَةَ يَمِينِهِ طَائِعاً ثُمَّ نَكَثَ بَيْعَتِي اللَّهُمَّ فَعَاجِلْهُ وَ لَا تُمْهِلْهُ
وَ إِنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ قَطَعَ قَرَابَتِي وَ نَكَثَ عَهْدِي وَ ظَاهَرَ عَدُوِّي وَ نَصَبَ الْحَرْبَ لِي وَ هُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ ظَالِمٌ لِي اللَّهُمَّ فَاكْفِنِيهِ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ أَنَّى شِئْتَ
ثُمَّ تَقَارَبُوا وَ تَعُبُّوا لَابِسِي سِلَاحِهِمْ وَ دُرُوعِهِمْ مُتَأَهِّبِينَ لِلْحَرْبِ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ وَ عَلِيٌّ ع بَيْنَ الصَّفَّيْنِ عَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ وَ رِدَاءٌ وَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ وَ هُوَ رَاكِبٌ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ فَلَمَّا رَأَى أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا مُصَافَحَةُ الصِّفَاحِ وَ الْمُطَاعَنَةُ بِالرِّمَاحِ صَاحَ بِأَعْلَى صَوْتِهِ أَيْنَ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ فَلْيَخْرُجْ إِلَيَّ
فَقَالَ النَّاسُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَ تَخْرُجُ إِلَى الزُّبَيْرِ وَ أَنْتَ حَاسِرٌ وَ هُوَ مُدَجِّجٌ فِي الْحَد
(The book) ‘Kashf Al-Ghumma’ – When the two parties saw and came closer to each other, and Ali-asws saw their intention, the determination upon fighting him-asws, he-asws gathered his-asws companions and addressed them an eloquent sermon. He-asws said in it: ‘Know, O you people! I-asws have been patient with these people, and observed them, and adjured them perhaps they would retract and return. But they did not do so and did not respond. They have sent a message to me-asws than I-asws come out for duel to the stabbing and affirm to the strikes, and I-asws have always been such that I-asws am not intimidated by the war nor do I-asws call to it, and Al-Qarah (a tribe famous for archery) had been fair from its shooting, from them. I-asws am Abu Al-Hassan-asws who split their ranks and separated their community, so due to that the heart cast out my-asws enemy! And I-asws am upon a clear proof from my-asws Lord-azwj to what He-azwj has Promised me-asws, of the Help and the victory, and I-asws am upon no doubts from my-asws affair. Indeed! And the death will not be missed by the one staying, nor will the fleer (be able to) frustrate it. The one not getting killed would be dying. Surely, the superior death is being killed. By the One-asws is Whose Hand is the soul of Ali-asws! One strike with the sword is easier upon me-asws than death upon the bed’. Then he-asws raised his-asws hands towards the sky and said: ‘O Allah-azwj! Talha Bin Ubeydullah had given me-asws the agreement (allegiance) with his right hand willingly. Then he broke my-asws allegiance. O Allah-azwj! Deal with him now and do not Respite him. And Al-Zubeyr Bin Al-Awwam cut off my-asws relationship and broke my-asws pact, and manifest enmity to me-asws, and established the war to me-asws, and he knows that he is being unjust towards me-asws. O Allah-azwj! Suffice him howsoever You-azwj Desire and I-asws desire’. Then they came near and overworked for wearing their weapons and their shields, ready for the war. All that, and Ali-asws was between the rows having a shirt upon him-asws, and a cloak, and a black turban upon his-asws head, and he-asws was riding upon his-asws mule. When he-asws saw that there did not remain except hand to hand combat and the stabbing with the spears, he-asws shouted at the top of his-asws voice: ‘Where is Al-Zubeyr Bin Al-Awwam? Let him come out to me-asws! ’
The people said: ‘O Amir Al-Momineen-asws!
